JAMMU, May 11: In a concerted effort to combat the scourge of drugs, the Jammu & Kashmir Police, under Operation Sanjeevani, conducted a raid on a suspected drug hotspot at Sikenderpur Kothey area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah.
Earlier, Police in RS Pura apprehended a drug peddler, Navjot Singh, seizing narcotics from his possession.
Subsequent investigation led to the disclosure of crucial information regarding the suppliers, Liaqat Ali and Shokat Ali, both sons of Hassan Mir from Sikanderpur Kothey.
Acting on a court-issued search warrant, police teams, led by SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar and other officials, raided the suspects’ residences.
Despite the suspects fleeing, authorities seized eight bikes, one car, narcotics, and a weighing machine from their premises.
Additionally, an individual named Shubham Sharma was arrested at the scene with a small quantity of narcotics, prompting the registration of a new case under the NDPS Act at Police Station Bishnah.
Simultaneous raids were conducted in Asrarabad, Rajpura Mandi, Pallanwala, and Gole Gujral to clamp down on drug-related activities.
Furthermore, foot patrolling and street awareness programs were conducted in Chitta hotspots, emphasizing community engagement in the fight against drug abuse.
To extend the reach of Operation Sanjeevani, Jammu Police, spearheaded by SP South Jammu and SDPO Gandhinagar, intensified patrolling efforts, establishing checkpoints at key hotspots like Rajiv Nagar and Gandhi Nagar.
