JAMMU, Aug 3: Jammu Police has solved a recent loot and assault case on a newspaper employee in Greater Kailash area on the City outskirts.
Addressing a press conference today, Ajay Sharma (SP Jammu South Zone), said that on July 22 a written complaint by Sudheer Kumar, a resident of UP (at present living in Upper Krishna Nagar, Jammu) was received by Police Post Greater Kailash wherein he stated that when he along with one of his colleagues was on his way to his home from his office (Dainik Jagran newspaper, Bari Brahmana) on his bike, three unknown youth launched a physical attack on them with sharp-edged weapons when they reached Greater Kailash near Fawara Chowk and fled the spot after taking his bike.
“Accordingly, a case FIR Number 73/2024 under section 126(2)/115(2)/304(a) BNS & 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation taken up,” the officer told media persons. He added that different teams were formed to analyze CCTV footages and work on human intelligence and after hectic efforts, all the three accused (two of whom are minor) led by ring leader Ilyas Matoo alias Alex, resident of Bari Brahmana (Samba) were apprehended.
The SP said that during questioning, the accused accepted their involvement in the case and on their disclosure, the ‘toka’ and the vehicle used to commit the offence was recovered. “Besides, the looted motorcycle was recovered and the receiver of the looted property was arrested,” he added.
“On further questioning, the accused also disclosed their involvement in two other cases of similar nature where they had attacked the victim and subsequently looted their belongings. A mobile phone and other weapons used by them in committing the offences were also recovered on their disclosure,” the officer said.
