JAMMU, Aug 17: Several political leaders, educational institutions, social organisations, as well as other institutions in Jammu celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour.
At Chatha Morh Gardigarh in R S Pura, Choudhary Gharu Ram, former Minister and President of Jammu Central Zone DPAP Party, led the flag hoisting ceremony.
The event saw the presence of several party leaders, including Balbir Singh, District President Jammu South, and Kamalpreet Singh, Vice President Jammu Central Zone.
The ceremony highlighted the region’s enthusiasm for the national festival.
Government Degree College, Marh hosted an elaborate program under the guidance of Principal Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul.
The event included floral tribute to freedom fighters, a flag hoisting ceremony, and a series of cultural performances by students.
Dr Koul emphasized the theme of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), urging students to contribute to national progress in line with the Government’s Vision for 2047.
At ASN Higher Secondary School in Channi Himmat, Dr A K Kapoor, Chairman of Adarsh Educational Trust, led the Independence Day celebrations, with PB Kapoor presiding over the function.
The event featured a mix of cultural performances by students, including a patriotic dance by kindergartners.
The speakers praised the sacrifices of freedom fighters and highlighted the importance of preserving national unity.
Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School in Ghou-Manhasan, Jammu, organized a lively event with Chief Guest CL Tickoo and Guest of Honour Dr. Usha Tickoo.
The program featured cultural performances, debates, and patriotic songs, highlighting the sacrifices of leaders who fought for India’s freedom.
The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) celebrated with former DGP Dr Ashok Bhan hoisting the tricolor at the Day Care Centre.
The function featured a chorus of patriotic songs, including a memorable rendition of “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon,” paying tribute to the sacrifices of Indian soldiers and freedom fighters.
The Jal Shakti PHE Employees & Workers Association in Udhampur marked the day with a flag hoisting ceremony led by Ashok Kumar Sharma, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Division. The event featured a rendition of the National Anthem by children and emphasized dedication and hard work among employees.
The Gandhinagar Greenbelt Morning Walkers Association’s celebration, despite rainy weather, saw Lalit Mengi and JBS Johar hoisting the National flag.
The gathering included about 250 participants who enjoyed patriotic songs and a speech by Dr C L Gupta on strengthening independence.
Tawi Welfare Society’s modest celebration at Apnavan Sure Chak included a flag hoisting by Master Kavi Raj and tributes to freedom fighters by Yash Pal Mangotra.
The event underscored the significance of remembering the sacrifices made for India’s independence.
These diverse celebrations across Jammu underscored the enduring spirit of patriotism and the collective pride in India’s journey towards freedom and development.
