Srinagar : Three terrorists have been gunned down by security forces, while one Army jawan and one civilian have lost their lives in an encounter that broke out in Dalipora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama in the wee hours of Thursday. The exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces took place today at Dalipora which is the main town in Pulwama district. Two security personnel and another civilian were also injured in the gunfight, who have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Among the killed terrorists, two are believed to be local, while one is reported to be from Pakistan. However, the official confirmation of the identities is yet to be made.
Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed in Pulwama and the internet has been barred in the area. The operation is over.
The firing started after CASO launched by a joint team of army and police in the area near District Police Lines near the main town. The joint team of forces intensified the search. Terrorists also opened fire, leading to an encounter. Heavy exchange of fire took place between the forces and the terrorists. (Agencies)
