JAMMU, Sept 5: The athletes of Sainik School Nagrota delivered an outstanding performance at the District Level Athletic events held at Khel Gaon, Nagrota. Competing under the Dansal Zone, the school’s athletes dominated the track and field events, securing an impressive total of 26 gold medals across various categories.
In the U-14 boys’ category, Sainik School Nagrota athletes showcased their prowess with victories in events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 600m sprints, alongside triumphs in the long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus throw. The U-17 boys’ category saw similar success, with gold medals won in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 3000m races, as well as the long jump, high jump and triple jump.
The girl cadets also excelled, with significant achievements in both U-14 and U-17 categories. In the U-14 girls’ events, gold medals were clinched in high jump and long jump. The U-17 girls’ team continued the winning streak with top finishes in the 100m, 200m, shot put, long jump, discus throw and high jump. Notably, seven girl cadets have been selected to represent Jammu District in the upcoming Inter-District Tournament, highlighting the exceptional talent nurtured at the school.
Principal Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia commended the cadets for their remarkable achievements, attributing their success to their dedication and the rigorous training provided by their coaches. He also extended special congratulations to Cadet Rajveer Rukwal, who has been selected for the J&K U-14 Volleyball team to compete in the National School Games 2024.
