JAMMU, Aug 22: Shadi Lal Pandita, president Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) and convener, Migrant Cell Congress was killed in a road accident while on his way from Marble Market to Nagrota this afternoon.
According to reports Pandita had gone to attend the Congress party meeting at Marble Market with leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Congress president Kharge. After returning from the meeting his bike was hit by a speedy truck near Sidhra By Pass bridge resulting in his instant death.
Pandita a well-known KP activist was on forefront in community struggle for last 34 years.
Many social and political leaders have expressed their shock and grief over the untimely demise of Pandita and termed it a great loss to the community as well as Congress party. They included former PCC chief, G A Mir, working president Congress, Raman Bhalla, Migrant Cell PCC president, Hira Lal Pandita and its generals secretary, Chuni Lal Kandi, AIKS president, Dr Ramesh Raina, KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri, Pir Panchal president, Ramesh Hangloo and social activist Vinod Kumar.
