SAMBA, Aug 23: District Legal Services Authority Samba organized a Special Lok Adalat of consumer cases here today in the District Court Complex, Samba.
The said Special Lok Adalat was organized under the directions and overall supervisions of Adnan Sayeed, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Samba.
A Special bench for settling consumer cases was constituted which was comprising of M S Parihar, President District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Kathua (former District & Sessions Judge) and Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary DLSA, Samba.
A total number of two cases were taken up by this bench for their amicable settlement. However, none of the two was settled due to non appearance of the parties.
Besides this, as per the directions of Adnan Sayeed, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr District and Sessions Judge) Samba, an interaction of the Trainee Judges with M S Parihar, President District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Kathua (former District & Sessions Judge) was also organized wherein M S Parihar, Presiding Officer of the bench sensitized the Trainee Judges as to how the Civil and Criminal files in the courts shall proceed from its initial stage till the pronouncement of judgment, how to write interim orders in the file, how a Judicial Officer can have a good control and supervision over his/her files in the court etc.
In addition to this, the Presiding Officer of the bench also had an interaction with the students of Dogra Law College Samba wherein he sensitized the students about the importance of Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, what is Alternative Dispute Redressal Mechanism, how cases are to be referred to ADR Centre of a District for Mediation and Settlement in Lok Adalats, what procedure has to be followed in the LokAdalat etc.
