JAMMU, Aug 23: A grand Teej festival was organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad Trikuta Nagar branch Vanita Kohli president of the branch, Kalpana Chopra secretary, Ritu Gupta treasurer, and other team members, bringing together women from various fields to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
The event was graced by Rekha Mahajan, a prominent BJP leader and district president Jammu South, as the chief guest on the occasion. Rekha Mahajan along with other dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the Teej festival, which featured traditional folk songs, dances, and a vibrant cultural programme.
Rekha Mahajan emphasized the significance of Teej as a symbol of women’s empowerment and spiritual growth. She praised the organizers for promoting cultural heritage and unity among the community. Rekha congratulated everyone on the Teej festival and said that this festival brings happiness to everyone’s life and is celebrated with relatives and friends. She mentioned that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has implemented many schemes for the welfare and empowerment of women in the country by providing reservations in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies. Over the next five years, Prime Minister, Modi has pledged to make three crore sisters millionaires.
Rekha praised the organizers and his team for organizing the grand Teej festival programme. She stated that the Teej festival strengthens Indian culture, and this women’s festival reflects their empowerment, showing strong unity within families and society. Just as all festivals are celebrated with unity, women’s gathering for swings also symbolizes social unity. The Teej festival concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of various cultural competitions, namely Ruby, Ram Gupta the winner, Suresh Bali second, Sita Gupta third, and Jyoti Nargotra the winners.
Teej is a significant festival in North India, celebrated by women to mark the arrival of the Monsoon season and the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It’s a day of spiritual rejuvenation, cultural celebrations, and family gatherings.
