JAMMU, Sept 26: The BJP national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, today said that the large voter turnout in second phase and the trends clearly indicate that BJP is going to form its Government in J&K and forces supporting terrorism and separatism have been rejected by the people.
Addressing a press conference here, Chugh said, “For the past one month, we have been actively campaigning under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s leadership and I can say with full confidence that the people of J&K are with PM Modi, whose principle is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.”
BJP’s chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi, spokespersons, Abhijeet Jasrotia, Arun Gupta, Vineet Joshi, and Media In-charge, Dr. Pradeep Mahotra were also present at the press conference.
Tarun Chugh said that the people have accepted the Prime Minister’s message, which is reflected in the large voter turnout in the UT and trend in second phase is an indication that BJP will form Government in UT on its own.
Earlier the voting percentage ranged between four and eight percent, today it has increased to 60 percent, and the credit for this goes to Modi Government, Chugh said.
He described it as a victory for democracy, stating, “People coming out of their homes to vote is a victory for democracy, and this is proof of the public’s trust in the country’s Constitution.”
Chugh criticized family-based politics in Jammu & Kashmir, stating, “The era of family-run parties is coming to an end and now, the decision who will head the Government will be made by the people, not by a member of a specific family,” he said.
He said that Omar Abdullah and Rahul Gandhi are “confused” and claimed that they are trying to mislead the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Criticizing the National Conference’s manifesto, he said, “They say they will release terrorists, but we will not release even a single terrorist as BJP is committed to zero tolerance on terrorism.”
Chugh said that Jammu & Kashmir’s Statehood will be restored under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi as PM has made a statement in this regard in the Parliament.
Criticising Omar Abdullah he said NC leader sometimes says he won ‘t contest elections, sometimes says he won’t trim his beard, but then contests elections from two constituencies,” he said, adding, “Omar will lose both seats”.
Chugh described the Congress-National Conference alliance as an ‘expired injection’ stating that these parties have lost public trust.
He also lambasted Rahul for creating controversy on the name of non locals and locals and asked him in how many States Congress had appointed local Governors during its rule.
Chugh said that Governors, IAS officers and IPS officers and all citizens in J&K are sons of mother India and we all are one.
