Leh, Aug 28: Season 2 Trishul Division organised second mini marathon was conducted at Karu here today under the aegis of Trishul Division. The event witnessed a participation of 732 students from 12 schools from Leh, Shey, Karu, Shakti and nearby places apart from runners from veteran community and army.
The theme for the said event was ‘Catch Them Young’ aligning with the national Vision of Khelo India’ and Fit India’. It was aimed at identifying talent at a young age and nurturing the same through professional training to promote the culture of sports in Ladakh.
The run was conducted under two age groups, 10-13 years and 14-17 years with two categories, one each for boys and girls in each group. The participants were felicitated with complementary T-shirts & caps and participation medals & certificates. The podium finishers were given winner medals in addition to participation medals.
The event was flagged off by Major General PK Mishra GOC, Trishul Division and was attended by various civil dignitaries to included Chewang Motup, Padma Shri, Founder Rimo Expeditions in addition to other senior officials from Armed Forces and civil administration of Union Territory of Ladakh.
