ISLAMABAD, Sep 4 : United States would extent support to Pakistan in fighting terrorism, Washington has said, mentioning last month’s series of attacks in Balochistan which mainly targeted security officials and civilians, a media report said.
Pakistan requested United States to extend support in addressing economic and security hurdles. The request was made in a meeting Tuesday between US ambassador Donald Blome and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifand Foreign Minister Ishaq Dhar, reported dawn.
The meeting took place in the wake of various terrorist attacks in Balochistan in which a number of people lost their lives.
Pakistan requested for assistance in order to overcome economic and social hurdles and address regional security threats and fight against terrorism, said Matthew Miller, spokesperson of the US state department.
Miller said Pakistan suffered losses and “our heart goes out to the families and loved ones who lost their lives in terrorist attacks”. (UNI )
