JAMMU, Sept 12: ‘Vomedh’ theatre group here today organised event ‘Lal Prakash Ki Aur’ to pay tribute to revered Kashmiri mystic poetess Padmavati Maha Shiv Yogini Lalleshwari on her birth anniversary.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages was chief guest while Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) was guest of honour on this occasion.
An inter-school painting and calligraphy competition was also organised in which students from schools Abhay Higher Secondary School, Muthi, Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial Public School, Barnai, Playway House Higher Secondary School and Hee Maa Public School participated.
Artists Veerji Virender Sumbly and Shivani Koul Bhat judged the competition.
The event commenced with a soulful rendition of Lal Vakh by students and music teacher, Anil Koul, from Abhay Higher Secondary School.
All participating students were awarded certificates of appreciation.
The day also featured insightful paper readings including session titled ‘Knowing Lalleshwari’ followed by a thought-provoking brainstorming session with audience titled ‘Kuch Ansh Prakash Ke.’
Portrait of Mata Lalleshwari made by Shivani Koul Bhat was unveiled and presented to the chief guest and guest of honour.
Poets Kusum Dhar, Bimla Aima, Ramesh Nirash and Pitambar Razdan were also felicitated on this occasion.
Dr. Agnishekhar, Dr. Khema Koul and Prof. R.L Shant also spoke.
The celebrations saw participation from Dr. Raj Nehru, Dr. Yogeshwari Bhat, Dalip Langoo, Dr. Usha Kher, R.K Rawal, Pamposh Ambardar and Ruby Raina Bhat, who engaged in interactive sessions and webinars shedding light on life and works of Mata Lalleshwari.
These sessions were hosted by Rohit Bhat and Bharti Kaul.
Rohit Bhat, Director Vomedh also spoke on the occasion.
Vote of thanks was presented by Bharti Kaul, vice president Vomedh while the programme was compeered by Bindiya Raina Tikoo.
