Another day and another sad news of militant attack, this time at Wanihama at Anantnag, where again two helpless labourers targeted for obvious reason of being outsider. Again same set of condemnations and assurances to work out the case, avenge the attack and deliver justice follows but resultant fear among whatever small minority/outsiders residing in Kashmir is beyond writing in words here. This incident has once again shown how easily are outsiders identifiable and how much vulnerable they are, in fact sitting ducks to be shot at will. All these repeated incidents only prove one thing, militancy might have been reduced but not weeded out, their numbers might have come down but will to strike is very much there, local support might have come down but easily available information about outsiders is very much in circulation. The other incident in which a militant associate has been caught along with grenade at another militancy hot bed, Pulwama, is also of serious concern. Chain of easily available arms and ammunition means supply line though choked but in place enough to cause damage. Though the militants have changed their tactics but their capability to strike at will is precise and enough to create panic among minority. Our police and security forces are fighting terrorism tooth and nail so much so that 176 militants have been wiped out till now in 2022 and their efforts commendable but there is always scope of improvement. CASO (Cordon And Search Operations) operations must start immediately in the affected hot beds of militants. More preventive measures to be put in place are the need of the hour, there is no scope for complacency. Police/security forces may be able to trace out and subsequently gun down the culprits but precious innocent human lives are lost time and again which has to be avoided at first place.
