JAMMU, June 29: The Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu here today organized a one-day training programme on the new criminal laws to educate the police officers and officials in Jammu Zone.
This initiative, part of ZPHQ’s efforts to keep the police force updated on legal advancements, was attended by all Range Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from Jammu districts, senior police officers based in Jammu, and Commandants of IRP and Armed Battalions in Jammu Zone.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain.
As per a statement, the primary objective was to sensitize police officers about the three new criminal laws scheduled to be implemented from July 1, 2024, ensuring they are well-versed with the new legal framework.
DIG Training PHQ Sarah Rizvi, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the importance of the training mission.
She encouraged officers to disseminate the knowledge gained to their respective districts and units for effective implementation of the new laws and integration with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).
ADGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, highlighted the necessity of staying updated with the latest legal reforms to ensure justice and law enforcement align with current standards. He stressed the police force’s role in implementing these changes effectively.
Senior Prosecuting Officer Hemanshu Mahajan, provided an in-depth explanation of the new laws.
SSP Mubassir Latifi, CO of IRP 10th Battalion, discussed the BNS and its provisions. CPO Rajeshwar Basotra, from DPO Udhampur, and Senior PO Gurpreet Kour, from DPO Samba, elaborated on the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Senior PO Rohit Tidyal, DPO Jammu, analyzed the Bhartiya Saksha Adhiniyam and its significance.
The programme featured a demonstration on collecting digital evidence by PSI Arjun Singh, PSI Amreek Singh, and PSI Sandeep Kumar Raju, providing insights into effective methods and techniques.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Vishal Manhas, SO to ADGP Jammu Zone, expressing gratitude to participants, speakers, and organizers for making the programme a success.
This training marks a significant step in equipping the police force with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement the new laws, ensuring robust law enforcement in Jammu Zone.
